This November, Sauraseni Maitra will debut on Stage. She will play the lead in the Shreik Of Silence production, Karmavyuh. Directed by Ritwika Chaudhuri and Suprovo Tagore, the play is developed from Rabindranath Tagore’s works. Besides Sauraseni, the play also features theatre worker and actor Shantilal Mukherjee. A number of other eminent personalities, including theatre owner, actor, and producer Arijit Dutta, and Oiendrila Ray Kapur, will also perform on stage in this production.

Evidently, Sauraseni is on cloud nine. While talking to OTTplay, the actress said, “I acted in films and OTT content. This is my first ever work on stage. This is an important moment as I was always told that stage acting hones your skills like nothing else can. This is like a gift to myself. I am working with someone like Shantilal Mukherjee, who is one of the pillars of stage acting in Bengal. I am very excited.” 

Sauraseni has been rehearsing and undergoing training for the job. “I am regularly doing breathing exercises, body movement training, and voice modulation. This is a whole new experience for me, and I feel enriched,” she said.  

Sauraseni shared the first poster of the play on her social media and wrote, “Trying my hands at something new and something really special to my heart. Need all your love and luck for this one.” 

Karmavyuh is based on four novels by Rabindranath Tagore. The production will be premiered in November. Indraadip Das Gupta is composing the music for the play.

Meanwhile, Sauraseni has been busy with her film projects. The Taj: Divided by Blood actress Shastri was released this Puja. Directed by Pathiktrit Guha, the film also features Mithun Chakraborty and Debashree Roy. She also worked with Rakhee Gulzar in Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy's Amar Boss. Meanwhile, she also completed working with Srijit Mukherji in his multistarrer, Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichu Nei.
